Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has endured a torrid year, winning just a single victory at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's first title after the Rome competition and first on a hard court from March of that year.

The win also means the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had lost his last six finals, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, striving to approach the net and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing four of the concluding five exchanges to take the lead.

The pair swapped service breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first professional title, took control to push for a decider.

Moutet rescued 4 early chances in a tight deciding set before the champion broke to 15 to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
